Information collected automatically

CLSTG collects limited, non-personally-identifying information (PII) data that your browser provides when visiting our website. We may combine this data to assess the effectiveness of our websites without disclosing specific information that would link to any individual. This includes:

Your IP address, your browser type (Chrome, Firefox, etc.), your operating system (Windows, iOS, etc.), your Internet domain, what kind of device you’re using, URLs of websites that pointed you to our site, cookies (described below), pages on our website you visit and when/for how long, designated market area and other relevant demographic information, day and date, your language settings, and e-mail clicks or other actions taken.

Cookies

Sometimes, our website uses cookies that uniquely identify your browser. This helps us offer content most relevant to your needs. A cookie allows us to customize what you see in relation to the way you entered the website and content that you most recently viewed (i.e., if you logged into your student account, the website may be personalized for student viewing in subsequent visits).

Information collected when you provide it

CLSTG also collects, uses, and discloses PII that you provide to us voluntarily online or offline. You do this when you respond to an advertisement, apply for financial aid, request info from us, fill out a survey, register for classes, order educational products and services, set up a personal profile on our site, or use on one of our career resources, learning assessments or other tools.

1. Inquiry, Interest and Application Forms

To provide you with the information about us, we may collect the data on these forms, including your name, email address, phone number, and content of the e-mail.

2. Purchase of Products or Services

To send you a product or make a service available to you, or to make necessary contact with you, data that you provide (e.g. your name, e-mail address, phone number, mailing and/or billing address, credit or debit card information) are used Your financial information is used for billing.

3. Donating to CLSTG

Your financial information is used for the donation, and we collect necessary information about how you wish to include us as a beneficiary.

4. Login Sites and Services

Some of our websites and web services require users to create an account, log in, and gain access to information and tools reserved for students, faculty, and staff. The creation of an account requires you to provide PII.

5. Web Engagement Data

To treat you as individual in our communication with you, we may use your engagement data (e.g., analytical info, referral data, form data, etc.)

Information collected indirectly

We may receive PII indirectly, in the following scenarios:

  1. A third party or public source gives it to us.
  2. Cookies, server logs or similar technologies give it to us as you interact with our website.
  3. Social media sites give it to us.
  4. One of our employees gives us your PII as an emergency contact or a referee.

Comments and uploaded media

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address and, to help combat spam, the visitor’s browser user agent string.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about the use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use (as amended for government websites) and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.

What We Do With Your Data

CLSTG never sells, rents or leases your personal data outside this policy. We may collect, use, and disclose personal information for business purposes, such as to:

  • Determine your admissibility, register you, and provide you with the requested services and products
  • Operate, maintain, debug and improve our services
  • Provide evaluations for financial aid and transcripts, enrollment and other processes

  • Contact you regarding your relationship to CLSTG, respond to your inquiry, offer you customer support, and facilitate promotions in which you have shown interest
  • Monitor data security, perform audit functions to maintain standards, investigate and prevent suspicious or potentially illegal activity
  • Share with our education partners, partner schools, or business associates
  • Keep educational and business records, as needed
  • Obtain payment for products or services that we provide to you

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

CLSTG does not discriminate against anyone who wishes to exercise their rights as allowed by applicable data protection regulations.If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

This right always applies. However, there are some exemptions, which means you may not always receive all the information we process. We reserve the right to discuss with you why we might not comply with a request from you to exercise them varying on the circumstances involved. A copy of your personal data will be provided free of charge unless we consider your request ‘manifestly unfounded or excessive,’ in which case we will ask for a reasonable fee to cover administrative costs associated with the request.

2. You have the right to rectify inaccurate data.

If you think information about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to rectify or complete it.This right always applies.

3. You have the right to data erasure.

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to ask us to erase your personal information. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. If we agree to your objection, we will stop using your data for that purpose unless we can give strong and legitimate reasons to continue using your data despite your objections.

Regarding information you’ve given us, you have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us from one organization to another, or give it to you.

The right only applies if we are processing information based on your consent, or are in talks about entering into a contract and the processing is automated.

Security of your data

CLSTG is dedicated to offering secure online environments for our constituents and online visitors. Our websites have standard and advanced security measures in place to protect against the loss of, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alterations and destruction of data we use and control. Although we have security controls in place to protect against malignant actors, one should remain vigilant when entering any credentials we assign you into external sites that are not affiliated with CLSTG.

We recommend you use the latest anti-virus software on your device. CLSTG does not accept liability for data that is compromised due to the following:

  • A weak or commonly-used password
  • Voluntarily giving credentials to a malicious site
  • Sending data through an insecure channel (e.g. an unprotected public network) not provided by CLSTG or its partner institutions

To further protect your PII and other data, we attempt to keep our employees aware of standard data protection procedures and new cybersecurity threats/technologies.
